Saudi Arabia has rejected a Houthi claim that Riyadh was targeted in a missile and drone attack, while Yemeni forces reported heavy losses among Houthi fighters on key fronts in Yemen.

Coalition Spokesman of Saudi-led coalition Yemen, Major General Turki Al Malki has rejected the Houthi claim that Riyadh had been targeted, describing it as misleading. The Spokesman has been quoted by Saudi Arabia’s media saying that the Houthis were seeking to project an “illusory victory” amid losses suffered in Taiz – a key front in Yemen. He added that the Houthis are seeking to divert attention from the huge losses that they are suffering.

Earlier, Houthi-affiliated channel – Al Masirah, had reported Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Sare’e saying that they had launched a ballistic missile and drone operation targeting Aramco in Riyadh. Sare’e claimed the strikes hit their targets and caused fires, saying the attack was in response to Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks on Sana’a and other Yemeni provinces.

Meanwhile, Saba News Agency in Aden reported that Yemeni armed forces of the internationally recognised government carried out 97 operations against Houthi reinforcements on the Tur al-Bahah and Taiz fronts. It said the operations killed or neutralised 260 Houthi fighters and destroyed or disabled 44 military vehicles and transport and supply assets. The forces have also reportedly struck Houthi targets in Sana’a and Saada, as fighting continues to intensify across the conflict’s important fronts.
