The UAE Attorney-General, Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, has said investigations into the flydubai flight FZ1073 incident found that the co-pilot attempted to carry out a terrorist act.

Emirates News Agency (WAM) quoted Al Shamsi saying the co-pilot began executing his plan during the flight by attacking the captain inside the flight deck with a crash axe and attempting to take control of the aircraft.

Investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances and motives behind the incident, as well as any links, while technical examinations and analysis of physical and digital evidence are also underway.

The Attorney-General said the final findings will be announced upon conclusion of all necessary procedures.
