Eight districts in Uttarakhand have been placed under a yellow alert, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds amid changing weather conditions in the state.
The alert has been issued for Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri Garhwal, Almora, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
According to the IMD, these districts could experience rain accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.
Most parts of Uttarakhand are witnessing partly cloudy conditions, with light drizzle reported at several places. The weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated places across all districts of the state over the next five days.
Snowfall is also possible in areas located at an altitude of 4,200 metres and above.
The IMD said the change in weather conditions comes after the southwest monsoon withdrew from the state last Saturday, with an active western disturbance now likely to influence the region.
Meanwhile, Delhi and adjoining areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) are also witnessing a change in weather, with rain and thunderstorms expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The maximum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to settle at 22 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are forecast to remain between 45 and 55 per cent.
According to the IMD forecast, Delhi is likely to experience partly cloudy skies on October 7, with temperatures ranging between 22 and 34 degrees Celsius. Similar conditions are expected on October 8.
A slight drop in temperature is forecast for October 9, when the maximum is likely to settle at around 32 degrees Celsius. Partly cloudy skies are expected to prevail on October 10 and 11, with maximum temperatures hovering between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius.
