India’s national telemedicine service eSanjeevani has crossed the milestone of 50 crore teleconsultations, marking a major expansion of digital healthcare services across the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the platform crossed the landmark on September 15, 2026, recording a cumulative 50,00,92,730 teleconsultations across all 36 States and Union Territories.

The platform has emerged as a major component of India’s digital health ecosystem, particularly in extending healthcare services to people in rural, remote and underserved areas.

eSanjeevani currently supports more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir spokes, 19,473 medical hubs and 901 online OPDs, with 2,41,923 registered healthcare providers.

Available in 15 languages, including English and 14 Indian languages, the platform facilitates around 2.5 to 3 lakh consultations every day. Its highest single-day utilisation has reached 6,30,315 consultations.

The utilisation data also highlights the platform’s growing reach among women and older citizens. Women account for 57.14 per cent of total utilisation, while 40.15 per cent of consultations are availed by citizens aged 46 years and above. Senior citizens aged 60 years and above account for 16.25 per cent of consultations.

The government said the figures underline the potential of telemedicine to make healthcare more accessible and convenient, particularly for people who face challenges in travelling to physical healthcare facilities.

eSanjeevani has also incorporated emerging technologies to strengthen digital healthcare delivery. The platform has integrated an Artificial Intelligence-powered Clinical Decision Support System, which assists healthcare providers during consultations and supports clinical decision-making.

The AI-powered system has received the Gold Award under the National Awards for e-Governance 2026.

In another development, eSanjeevani has been integrated with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112, strengthening coordination between emergency response services and remote medical expertise.

The platform is also expanding beyond primary healthcare by enabling specialist OPD consultations through premier government medical institutions.

Patient-to-doctor teleconsultation services in select specialities have been rolled out at AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Jammu and AIIMS Patna, allowing patients to access specialist consultations remotely.

The government plans to progressively expand the facility to other premier institutions, including AIIMS, JIPMER and PGIMER Chandigarh.

The expansion is aimed at reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for specialist consultations while making better use of specialist capacity available within the public healthcare system.

eSanjeevani is a Made-in-India digital health solution developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), with C-DAC Mohali providing technological development and engineering support.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has guided the platform’s evolution, which has expanded from a hub-and-spoke telemedicine model into a national digital health platform serving 50 crore consultations.

The government said the milestone reflects India’s growing capability to deploy indigenous digital public infrastructure at scale and supports the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
